WHAT TO DO ABOUT CHRISTMAS...
The holiday season is really a delightful time of the year except, perhaps, if you
are an internet marketer.
Everyone is busy buying gifts, going to parties, decorating their homes and, oh my, this
doesn't leave much spendable cash left over or a lot of time for marketing.
Like some people, the net seems to suffer with those holiday blues right around this time.
What to do about Christmas?
Well we can't help you pick out your gifts or show you where to park the ornaments on the
tree, but we can try to steer you in the right direction with some ideas you can use on
the net at this time of year to help promote your business and generate some cash.
SALE YOUR WAY INTO THE SUNSHINE...
This is not the time to launch a new program, write an ebook or do anything that requires
a great deal of attention and effort. You simply don't have the time you need to do these
well.
Everyone is exhausted and bloated at this time of year and you will be spinning your
wheels if you try to capture the world's attention right now.
So don't try.
Instead see if you can figure out a way to enhance the business you already have. Things
you can do right now that won't take much time but will have a positive impact in a short
space of time.
Start thinking about What you can offer to make your current business more appealing so
people will take a second look even during the holiday season.
Here are some ideas.
- Offer a sale of some sort.
Pick something you are selling and offer two for the price of one. That's a 50% discount
and is usually a good Christmas grabber. To save changing prices on your site you could
simply off "Cash-Back". On on of our partnership products worth $197.00 we offer
$50.00 cash-back. This idea has generated a few thousands dollars over the past 5 days.
People are looking for bargains at this time of year.
- Offer valuable free bonuses.
Make it something worthwhile too, not the same old same old recycled
"toothbrush" that everyone already knows about or has. Do some research and find
something you can give away that you would actually like to receive yourself.
I know that, when I am buying presents for someone at this time of year, I need to love
what I am buying and part with it reluctantly. Only then do I know I have purchased the
perfect gift.
It's the same on the net. Find something you actually use and like and give that away.
Your clients will appreciate this and you will be able to talk about the give away with
the knowledge required to help your clients actually use the product or information.
If you treat your clients almost like family with the respect they deserve, you will find
that comes back to you over and over again.
- More Give-Away Ideas.
Suppose you don't have your own program or product to discount? You still have plenty to
give away.
You could offer to run some ads free for your clients on the lists you use for
advertising. Or, depending on the price tag of the item you are selling you may want to
purchase some very inexpensive solo ads runs for a client if they buy your product.
Believe it or not there are solo ads you can purchase for as little as 1.50 on the net.
You just need to keep your eyes open and they turn up. We are testing one right now and
don't know the results yet which is why we are not mentioning the location here, but you
can find very inexpensive ad runs and offer them to your purchasing clients as a holiday
bonus.
- It's Talent Time.
What about your own talents? Some of you make great banners. Others write great ads. We
have seen them.
Some of you are brilliant website designers. Our JPE Advertising clients and WebPro Times
readers are some of the most talented people on the net. You can certainly offer you own
talents as a bonus gift to your purchasers.
- People Love Contests.
How about running a contest on something and offering a prize. You could use a
cash prize, as service or your talent as the prize. That might be just what some people
are looking for.

THE POINT IS....
The holiday season is the time to get your creative juices rolling.
If you are developing a new piece of software or a planning a new program
launch, you will find that even your programmers or your best affiliates get
lax at this time of year. Don't step on their toes or have a fit. Be prepared for the
inevitable delays and plan something different to do during this time.
It even might be a good time to say hi to your kids or spend some time with your lover or
spouse or.... well you get the idea.
Make this time a fun and profitable time on the net so you don't go into the New Year flat
broke and feeling discouraged.
Use your creative talents. You all have them. Don't let them stagnate.

Getting into Google through their open back door.

Word has it that it's better to be found by Google than to directly submit your pages.
Spidered pages apparently rank higher, so the Google ranking algorithm is set to pay more
attention if you get a highly-ranked site to link to you.
But if you don't know anyone in that category, let AllTheWeb.com rescue you!
Here's how...
In this link, just replace my website address (EPROFITNEWS.COM) with yours: http://www.alltheweb.com/urlinfo?q=EPROFITNEWS.COM&c=web
Copy this new URL and enter it into Google, here: http://www.google.com/addurl.html
Repeat this for all your websites.
Better still, add these AllTheWeb URLs to one of your pages that is regularly crawled by
Google.
That's it, my friend.
"BUT I DON'T OWN A WEBSITE"
If you don't have a site that is regularly crawled by Google, why not make a post to one
of the forums and use this URL in your signature?
"HOW CAN I CONFIRM THAT THE FORUM IS CRAWLED BY GOOGLE?"
Easily, my friend. Here's what I did.
- Go to Google, http://google.com
- Type in the domain of the forum and the name John (because there's sure to be a post
from someone called Gary in any self-respecting forum, right?)
Example: Type in "ablake.net gary" (without the quotes).
- Bingo. Mr. Google shows me a current page at the Anthony Blake forum, which proves that
their spiders regularly crawl this site.
So post your URL there and it won't be long and you'll be found by Google.
"NEXT VERSE, SAME AS THE FIRST"
Since that wasn't too hard, why not do it with other spidering search engines?
http://www.metacrawler.com is one. It searches Google, FAST, Ask Jeeves, Inktomi, About,
Looksmart, FindWhat, Overture, Teoma.
"WHERE'S THE FRONT DOOR ANYWAY?"
If you're wondering where you can enter the AllTheWeb process through their front door,
just go to http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/
And in the panel marked "Enter your URL here", type in your website's URL.
Or several URLs if you wish to see a comparison of your site and up to three other sites.
One of the engines that MarketLeap searches is AllTheWeb and it will show you the number
of pages where your site is listed. In my case, it's 1015.
Click on the number and you'll be taken to the URL that we started with:

That's where it comes from.

I'm really exhausted from trying to do Christmas and Chanukah and see my grandchild and
call my mother and plan parties and advertise and cook meals and be creative at the same
time. Something's got to give.
P: Take a breath, J. That was a mouthful. Let's figure out what we can give away or get
rid of.
J. Okay, P. I am totally calm now so what can we give away?
P: Well, let's see. I need some shirts and your mother wanted some jewelry and my daughter
wants channel no. 5 and...
J: Oh P, be serious. I need a week's vacation somewhere where there are no phones and no
computers and I can just lie in the sun and have time to write and to think.
P: What did you have in mind?
J: I don't know exactly. I thought perhaps we could hire a leer jet and fly to Paris for a
few days and then hop over to Venice and go for a ride in one of those gondolier things
and...
P: You're dreaming, J. You have a ham you promised to cook for Christmas and we have a
dozen projects we're involved in and who's going to write the WebPro Times if you're
flying off to Paris.
J: Oh P. You're always so technical. I guess Paris is out. But, we do have an office that
looks right out onto this beautiful beach front, couldn't we at least go for a walk on the
beach or something...?
P: Yes, J. I suppose we could do that.
J: Now? P
P: yes now, J Say good night to the folks.
J. Good night folks.. and P could we also get some ice cream and maybe rent a sail boat
and spend some time on one of the islands and buy some new clothes and...
P: J?
